That was a pretty cool jump in the video . I had a similar experience in september but it bent my ram in alf. I gotta ask did you bend the inside of your rims when the tires blew off? Just wondering . That's what used to happen to me . I'd crush the inside of the rim or "buckle " it. That thing is pretty awsome. We'll have to find an event between here and there and meet up .

Yea there was pretty good carnage on that jump. this was the first event of this kind I have ever done,

You are right Clay, taco'd both front rim inner beads, & bent the wheel center on the left front,
A tire guy that was there at the event straightend the beads out good enought to hold air, the right front looks fine, can't even tell it was damaged, I ordered a new wheel to replace the left front, when it shows up I will send the bent one back & have them fix it.
that way I will have a spare.

I think what happend was when I landed on the nose it pulled both tie rods in half, letting the tires fold back, allowing the tires to be pushed offthe inner beads, then they went strait to the dirt & getting taco'd,

also the steering stops are on the front of the diff, so when the knuckles got pushed back the left front axle joint was put in a binde, breaking the yoke off the left front stub shaft, so the last two events, (sled pull & rock crawl) were done with 3 wheel drive,

The left frond spindle was also bent and cracked, I straightend it, V'd out the crack, then pre heated, welded, post heated, & let cool slow in floor dry, I'm trying to find another spindle, but this one will work for now.

I already built new tie rods, better ones, since this seems to be where the whole wrath of carnage started,

I think by the time I get done breaking stuff & making it touger, this sould prove to be a pretty good machine.

Clay, maybe I should just have you guys spin me up a couple 4340 spindles for this thing, I could add them to the indistructale parts list.

I'm all for meeting up some where, I think we could have a pretty good time.

Clay and Skipped Link hows it going it's your rear engine understudy lol. I was just wondering why with all the weight in the back do the trucs nose dive when jumping is taht jut teh suspention setup or how do you work that out is it throttle and braking in the air?

well inferno we need more coil in the rear to counter the weight on take off. as in any vehicle the stiffer the rear the more the nose will rise. Our weight is in the aft so we need to add more rate in the rear.

L Roy . You more than likely ripped the front links apart because the rims buckled. You have access to a cnc table . Cut some thin rings and weld them to the inner part of your rim . Problem solved. "I used to run into that alot . Never have a problem now. The rim just can't handle the load. And I was thinking as I was reading yor post "I should just spin him (or mike should) some spindles "

Too funny. We definitly have to hook up . It'd be a good time running them together.

Infurno, in addidtion to what Clay said, that particular jump had a really short approach face, the front end was already skyward by the time the rear tires even hit it, compunding the fact that the rear springs are stiffer.

Clay, I have family up around the Courdea'lane ID area, thats about 630 miles from me, but might be a good half way point, I'll tell them to keep there ears open for a 4x event, or off road weekend.

What material did you use on your inner beads? 1/8", 3/16" I'll probably look into this,

I'll make a drawig of the spindal, if I make it into TTC next year I would hate to show up on a repaired spindal, If I can't locate a new one I'll get the demensions to you & we can figure out a price for a pair,

Well I'd hate for the only video in this thread to be one where I broke the thing, so here's a couple clips I threw togeather from new years day,

Here's the low down on whats going on in the video,
First rig is a bronco that is set up pretty good, D-60s with ARB lockers front & rear, 5.13:1 gears, fuel injected 351w, 4 spd, King coil overs up front ect, He actually made it up the hill with little issue the first time, then he went back down the hill to pull a rig up that could not make it, after 2 or 3 failed attempts with the 4wd subaru strapped to his bumper, he unhooked & had to take 2 tries to make it up on his own, (as you know video doesnt give obsticals much justice)

So the first thing you see is the bronco finally making it up the hill, Next I went down & hooked up to the subaru, & drug him up the hill, then some misc BS, Next was me braking trail up a hill, (took me 2 attempts) The camera gets a little shakey here, but my brother was videoing from quite a ways away,

Then a quick clip of my buddys toyota, The truggy I through togeather for my brother to drive, & the buggy again,

http://videos.street...-run_210207.htm

All in all a good time, the snow is all gone now, so I'm hoping the slop dries up quick so we can get back out there.

I so hope Leroy gets into TTC. After seeing his buggy and driving skills I think he has a VERY good chance of winning. The build quality is amazing. Pics dont do any justice. It was a shame to see it break off the first jump. It would have been an impressive run!

I recomended the inner rock rings to. I think it would be a good idea.

You can count on several votes from me man!
